Since obtaining a degree in Chemistry at university, I have worked within the water treatment/water hygiene industry for over 33 years. Starting my career as a Service Chemist and culminating in being the Owner/Director of my own water treatment company (Eaton Environmental Services Ltd). Ultimately employing over 50 people and with well over 300 customers, servicing a wide range of industries. During this time, I have always had a hands-on involvement in almost all aspects of industrial water treatment and water hygiene. This has ensured I have both a technical understanding and the practical knowledge connected with almost all aspects of water treatment, with particular expertise in the areas outlined below:

Industrial water treatment servicing of cooling towers/steam boilers and other similar plant, requiring the implementation of chemical control programmes. L8/HSG274 Part 1 compliance.

Water hygiene monitoring of domestic water services for L8/HSG274 Part 2 compliance.

Water hygiene monitoring of ancillary water services for L8/HSG274 Part 3 compliance.

Creating, developing and enforcing all aspects of the systems, procedures and reporting structures required to run a legislative driven business

Designing and implementing water treatment programmes for all of the above systems, both from a technical and commercial point of view.

Cleaning and disinfection of cooling towers, domestic water services and other similar systems.

Water Systems Surveys and Legionella Risk Assessments for all systems covered under HSG 274 Parts 1, 2 and 3.

Capabilities
The expertise gained from my extensive involvement in water treatment and Legionella control, along with the overview and insight obtained by running my own business, has provided me with the proficiency and competence to start my current company, The Water Hygiene Consultancy. Owner/Director
This role involved all aspects of running a medium sized water treatment/water hygiene company and included the following:

Designing and implementing water treatment programmes for all system included within HSG274 Parts 1, 2 and 3.

Carrying out the work laid down within these water treatment programmes, including:

Chemical analysis and servicing of industrial water treatment systems, such a cooling towers/ steam boilers, etc.

Water Systems Surveys and Legionella Risk Assessments of all types of water system, including designing and development of our own in-house risk assessment template.

Water hygiene monitoring.

Cleans and disinfections of all types of water systems.

Designing the internal work procedures and systems to ensure LCA, legislation and ISO standards compliance and being actively involved in the associated audits.

During this time, I undertook much internal training.
